Today is International Cat Day. I’d never heard of it till today.
Founded in 2002, to celebrate this beautiful domesticated furry animal, the cat comes second, only to the Dog, as an adorable human companion.
Love Both Cats & Dogs.
What’s you favourite film, in which a cat plays a significant role in?

Orangey the Cat & Audrey Hepburn in a scene from Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)
Mine, is obviously Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)!!!!! 😀
Nuwan Sen’s Film Sense
The cat from Breakfast at Tiffany’s is the best part of the movie!
It sure is!! After Hepburn 😉
Plus it’s my favourite Romantic Comedy ever.
The first movie that comes to mind is Cats and Dogs, a 2001 comedy thriller about a high tech espionage battle between, yes, cats and dogs. You can imagine who are the villains in this movie. Not man’s best friend, haha! I also like Babe, the charming Australian movie about the pig, where the cat is cute and hilarious, but is again the villain haha! 🙂
Yes I remember Cats & Dogs (2001). That Persian Cat made for an adorable villain. I haven’t seen Babe (1995) yet.
Purrfect!
Would To Catch a Thief count as a film, in which cat plays a significant role?
Yes, I suppose it should. But to be quite honest, I hardly remember the actual cat, other that the cat burglar played by Cary Grant. Unless you are referring to him, than an actual cat. Watched it somewhere in the early 90’s. I hardly remember the movie. Vague memory of a black cat in it.
In Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the cat (simply known as ‘Cat’) is also symbolic of Holly Golightly’s own character. Do check out my list titled ‘No Name’ from October/November 2011, on IMDB.

Yeah, I was thinking of Cary Grant’s character John “The Cat” Robie.
Cats are seriously under represented in the cinema, wouldn’t you say?
Yes, I assumed as much.
I’m not sure how you mean cats are underrepresented in Cinema. Do you mean in comparison to dogs?
There are quite a few cartoons in regard to cats. But when it comes to non-animated movies, I guess there are fewer, with a cat in a significant role.
-Elizabeth Taylor’s anxious character in reference to the title of the movie, in, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958)
-The scene filmed in the Trevi fountain, with Anita Ekberg in La Dolce Vita (1960).
-The scene from The Godfather (1972), with Marlon Brando.
-The cat in the first two films from the Alien franchise (1979 & 1986).
-And of course Michelle Pfeiffer, as the sexiest ‘Catwoman’ ever, in Batman Returns (1992); including all the cats that turn her into this hellishly hot ‘Catwoman’.
… are Among some movies that come to mind.
